What to expect from teenage counselling
Starting counselling can feel a little daunting, especially if it's your first time talking to someone about how you're feeling.
I offer a warm, relaxed and non-judgemental space where teenagers can feel comfortable being themselves. There's no pressure to talk about anything before you're ready.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are shaped around each young person's individual needs. We can explore thoughts, feelings and experiences together, at a pace that feels right for them.
Privacy and trust are important parts of counselling. I'll explain confidentiality and its safeguarding limits clearly, so young people understand what stays private and when information may need to be shared.
Parents and carers can be involved where appropriate, while respecting the young person's privacy and independence.
Experienced, qualified support for teenagers
I'm Katie, a qualified person-centred counsellor and an NCPS Accredited Member, with specialist Level 5 training in counselling children and young people.
I hold an Enhanced DBS check and have completed Level 3 safeguarding training, helping me provide a safe, supportive and professional counselling environment.
I understand that every teenager is different. My approach is warm, patient and non-judgemental, allowing young people to explore their feelings, build self-understanding and feel listened to without pressure.
I believe that developing a trusting therapeutic relationship is an important part of helping teenagers feel comfortable and supported throughout counselling.

Information for parents and carers
As a parent or carer, it can be difficult to see your teenager struggling, especially when you're unsure how best to support them.
Counselling offers young people a confidential, supportive space to explore their feelings and experiences with someone outside their family.
Before counselling begins, I'll explain how sessions work, discuss confidentiality and safeguarding, and answer any questions you or your teenager may have.
Depending on the young person's age, understanding and individual circumstances, parents or carers may be involved in the initial assessment and ongoing arrangements where appropriate.
It's important that teenagers feel their privacy is respected. I'll always explain the circumstances in which information may need to be shared to help keep someone safe.
You're welcome to arrange a free, no-obligation 10–15-minute consultation to discuss whether counselling might be suitable.
